#SOL16. No.16.

Some call me a frequent flyer.
Others call me a road warrior.
American Airlines says I’m Executive Platinum. All I know is that I spend a lot of time in airports and airplanes, traveling to work with schools across the country. The records show that I’ve flown over 100,000 miles each year for the past 18 years.

At the gateway of my home stands a majestic sentinel, Mt. Hood.

Mt Hood, the highest point in Oregon, rises 11,240 ft. and is home to 12 named glaciers and snowfields. Some say it is the crown jewel of the Columbia River Gorge. Scientists say it is Oregon’s most likely to erupt volcano. Though I’ve seen Mt Hood countless times, I still press my face against the plane window or crane my neck to see across the aisle as we depart or approach PDX.

The image of Mt.Hood signifies a portal to many slices in my life.

And each time I look at the mountain,
from the ground or from the sky,
I am reminded of one of my favorite Psalms.

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
Psalms 121:1-2 ASV
