TELL ME ABOUT THE WORKSHOP.

How can we teach evidence-based response writing so that our students achieve a high performance level on RLA STAAR? Alice Nine’s virtual, on-demand workshop “Writing for STAAR” shows you how.  In the looming shadow of the redesigned STAAR, a number of Texas educators approached Alice for insights into evidence-based writing instruction and assessment. Alice, responded to their request and intently focused her lens on TEA’s released RLA STAAR documents. She dug deep. She deciphered, deconstructed, and demystified the test.  In this workshop, Alice Nine shares her findings so you will know and understand the test — the changes and the demands and constraints of the SCR and ECR questions. And then, she provides instructional models and ideas that you can use immediately in your classroom.
Participants will
▸ Examine RLA STAAR blueprint for insights
▸ Identify changes on the RLA STAAR writing rubrics
▸ Analyze workload of the test
▸ Identify and examine test questions that require writing in sentences
▸ Examine the key indicators of high performance
▸ Compare the extended constructed response to a traditional essay
▸ Model a short constructed response
▸ Model an extended constructed response

Join Alice Nine, and you’ll return to your classroom better able to deliver systematic, focused instruction for evidence-based response writing.

Some videos can be used with students; stream Alice Nine into your classroom to co-teach with you.
