This year, I haven’t see the nasty big flies that come in the spring.
Not yet, anyway.
Maybe we won’t get them.
Maybe spring is late.
Maybe they will come today since our highs have been climbing into the 60s.
Does anyone else get an adrenaline rush when they chase a fly around the kitchen?
Sun is shining, warming us up to 57.
Know what that means?
The nasty big black buzzing flies are appearing.
How do I know?
One just preceded Carl through the kitchen door.
What action did I take?
I jumped up, rushed past Carl, followed it into our pantry, slammed the door, and grabbed a flyswatter as it flew hard against the north windows.
Swat! Swat! Swat!.
Buzzzzz! Buzzzzz! Buzzzzz!
Swat! Swat! SWAT!
My adrenaline was rising.
Why does that happen when you are trying to swat a nasty fly or dangerous bee in your house?
Finally I connected, wrapped its body in a tissue, and tossed it in the kitchen garbage (the one destined for the gray can). I emerged from behind the closed pantry door, triumphant. Got my first fly of this season!

I saw this and had a good chuckle. If you are a certain age, you will chuckle with me.
