A Bite of a Grandma Slice

Conversation with a three-year-old.
Prologue.
I am Me, the Grandma; BN is a three-year-old, my grandson.
I’m preparing lunch; BN is pulling a chair up to the kitchen table.
On the table is my husband’s MacBook Pro — OPEN.
Act I.
BN, pointing to the MacBook with inquisitive voice: “Cumpooer?”
I am not too worried because BN is usually good about not getting into things. So I keep working and rather flatly say: “It’s Grandpa’s.”
I glance at BN.
Act II.
BN, without taking eyes off the screen: “BN’s?”
Me, emphatically as I move toward the kitchen table: “Grandpa’s!”
Act III.
BN, just as emphatically with positivity: “It’s BN’s.”
Me, as I reach over, close the laptop, and move the temptation to a safer place: “It’s Grandpa’s.”
Epilogue.
BN reluctantly relinquishes ownership of Grandpa’s laptop and moves to help me with lunch.
