SOL26-0224

I’ve been thumbing the pages of my journals, reading slices about my grandkids–well, maybe more like “bites.” Here’s one that still makes me laugh and still makes me wonder how Mommy taught this lesson so well.
BN (3 yrs old) is tagging after Daddy who is trying to keep chores done while Mommy is in the hospital with the birth of little brother EN.
As Daddy enters the laundry room with an armful of wash, BN puts his hands on his hips and says, “No. No. No, Daddy!”
BN points to the washer, “No.”
He points to the dryer, “No!”
He points to the baskets of laundry, “No!”
He spreads his little hands in an all-inclusive gesture and emphatically says, “It’s Mommy’s! It’s ALL Mommy’s!”

He has learned well. I can just picture the little hands spread encompassing all that is Mommy’s. Love this.
Thanks. The body language is an important part of the whole drama.
Ha. Mom taught that safety lesson well. Reminds me of visiting my husband’s aunt when her toddler grandson was also visiting. We were visiting from far away but the toddler lived nearby and visited often. He walked around the whole place saying No! and pointing at all the things we was not allowed to touch. Thanks for bringing back that funny memory from long ago and sharing your own.
Haha! I love when “littles” make their boundaries into our boundaries too.
PS I meant to add CONGRATULATIONS
Oh Alice, this is such a sweet slice of the absolute reality of a toddler who knows life as HE sees it best!
He was such a little sweetheart… still is though he is now taller than me. Their view point often makes for humorous family stories at family gatherings.
Toddler wisdom! Gotta love it! Thanks for making me smile!
Through the years, I’ve tried to jot down some of that toddler wisdom because it makes me smile whenever I remember, and I sure need to smile.
Oh, ouch! I’m glad he learned a lesson that it is also Daddy’s, especially with the new baby coming. Funny.
It’s funny how littles perceive adult roles in the family.
How endearing, and your journal entry made me chuckle, too. I love that you called this not a slice, but a ‘little bite’. Sometimes that is all I have…a toddler bite! 🙂
I’m thinking I might do some “bites” instead of “slices” in the March challenge.
