SOL25-0819
Summer is winding down.
I’m thinking of what I still need to do.
To create. To plan. To organize. To track.
And so I’ve been making lists.
There’s one list that I’ve prioritize.
Did you catch that?
I’m not just making one list; I’m making several lists.
I’m not just prioritizing items in a single list; I’m prioritizing my lists.
So what is in the list that is on top of all other lists? Keep reading . .
- Let worries go
- Take things slow
- Give thanks everyday
- Make time to pray
- Get outside and feel the breeze
- Look up and and stand beneath the trees
- Put your bare feet on the ground
- Let loose and dance around
- Sing at least one sweet song
- Acknowledge when you’re wrong
- Put your hands in the dirt
- Help someone who’s hurt
- Live each day like it’s your last
- Because this life goes by so fast . . .
–Author Unknown
And I add to that . . .
- Daily read God’s Word
- Forgive and choose love and joy

What a good reminder, especially to teachers as the summer winds down and they prepare and face a new school year.
Yes!
That’s a good list. One I should copy myself.
Alice, your list captures the end of the summer reflection that all teachers do! I must admit I am not always doing a good job of enjoying the day, but today, I am embracing an unexpected staycation thanks to an offshore hurricane. I treated myself to fancy coffee, a new shirt, and tomorrow….some fun!
A perfect list to follow. I hope you have a great start to your school year and are able to get some of those lists trimmed down too.
I love your list! I am inspired to make my own now – a reminder to treasure the days and moments of life.
This should be a top priority in all of our lives. I think this “Acknowledge when you’re wrong” is a big one because I know so many people who would rather blame someone else for their shortcomings and mistakes and not own up and move on.
This is the kind of list I can get behind! I especially love “Take it slow”–something I’m constantly trying to remind myself to do. I appreciate so much that there’s a priority order to your lists and that you’ve prioritized this one over the others. I’m a big list maker, but I’m working on avoiding the tyrannical aspects of lists in my life. I’m trying to think of them more as reservoirs of to dos, rather than continual rebukes.
I like your list. Thank you.
Alice,
Wonderful list poem. I’m getting better at taking things slowly but still struggle w/ the notion idleness is a bad thing. The protestant work ethic has tortured me all my life. I remember a song based on Isaiah 40:31.
