March 2026 Slice of Life, No. 6

It was a sunny day on the Oregon coast. The skies were blue and cloudless. There was little wind. The waves were churning brown with sand. And the sand — the cool, wet sand — was perfect for digging holes, building castles, and burying your brother or sister.
It was the kind of day that calls for a moment of celebration — a moment filled with exuberance, a spontaneous moment with arms outstretched, hands covered with sand, and both feet off the ground. It was a rare split-second moment, and I captured it by chance on my iPhone.
Look carefully at the photo. Do you see how EN is airborne? Such abandonment! If you look long enough, you will feel his exuberance. His ebullience is contagious.
There is an adage that to be healthy, everyone needs one roll-on-the-floor laugh each day. To it, I add that everyone needs at least one airborne moment of celebration each day.
Today I cleared weeks of paperwork from my desk, and then I had a moment of great personal celebration in the warmth of the sun shining through my south windows.
Intentionally celebrate life, and you will live each day as fully as possible.

Such unadulterated joy. We all need moments like this.
What a beautiful moment to capture! I love your words of positivity and joy. Thank you for transporting me back to the Oregon coast for a bit, one of my favorite places in the world.
Oh, this is the perfect antidote to my yesterday and to the day before and ….you get the idea. Sheer exuberance. Your photo is perfect and your words amplify the feeling. This is a wonderful way to start my day! Thanks!!
Photos like the one you captured are just the best! The joy of living. I do so agree about intentionally celebrating life and how uplifting that is.
