March 2026 Slice of Life No. 15
Happy Sunday! I trust you day is blessed. I trust it overflows with love.
I ask, when a heart brims with love for a son or daughter, what words can express such love? What actions can demonstrate such love?
Through the years, on cards and notes, I’ve penned the words “With all our love” to our children, to their spouses, to their children, to their spouses, and to their children’s children. I realize even more that there are no words nor actions to convey such deep, deep feelings– feelings rooted in the flow of our lives to theirs and theirs back to us, because they came from us and we are part of them in ways our minds cannot comprehend, but our hearts know.
It is a love that explodes the heart with great joy even when it clutches the heart with sadness and sorrow. It is a love that embraces the future even as it clings to the past. It is a love that reaches out to pull close and then opens its hands to release. It is a love that is filled with hope and faith. It is a love that dreams what seems impossible. And sometimes, it is a love that weeps in silence, forever yearning.
And as I write, I think of the love of my Father in Heaven for me… and my eyes become a river of tears. I do not fathom my love for my children… and oh, how much less do I fathom His love for me, His child! “For God so loved…”
